Thomas Allen Newman QC (1925 - 2011)

Passed away on Saturday November 12, 2011 at Sunrise Senior Living Centre in Unionville, at the age of 86. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Pattie Louise, his three sons Tom, Mike and Peter, his 3 daughters Cindy (Ron), Shelly (Martin) and Tracey (Doug), and his 10 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Harry A. and Margaret Newman and his siblings Harry,

Robert, Richard, William and Anne Daly.Tom was a member of the RCAF and then went on to a long career in law. In addition to practicing law, Tom had a passion for hunting, fishing and travelling. He also devoted a great deal of his time to volunteerism as a Founding Director of Ducks Unlimited Canada, a long-time member of the Toronto Central Lions Club, a founding member of the Pickering Rod and Gun Club and as an active parishioner of St. Paul's On-the-Hill Anglican Church, Pickering, Ontario.

Visitation will be held at McEACHNIE FUNERAL HOME, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax (905)428-8488 on Wednesday, November 16 from 1:00 - 3:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm.

The Funeral Service will be held at St Paul's On-the-Hill, 882 Kingston Rd., Pickering at 11:00 am. Interment at Salem Cemetery and a reception to follow at St. Thomas Anglican Church (101 Winchester Road, Brooklin).

Tireless Tom, as you were once hailed by a famous sportswriter who spent the day hunting with you, we are all going to miss you. TOWNSEND, Robert Blaine - Passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Belleville General Hospital on Thursday, November 10, 2011. Predeceased by his beloved wife Madeline. Robert was blessed with seven children, Marilyn Farthing (Arthur), Edward (Loreane), Patricia Convery (David), Jim (Linda Greene), Brian (Evelyn), Brenda Jones (Reg) and Debbie Deveau (Gene Jochen). Robert was proud of all of his 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Throughout his 85 years of vibrant life, Robert was an accomplished sailor, published author, marine historian, community volunteer and extraordinary fundraiser.

Visitation will be held at PINE HILLS VISITATION CENTRE, 625 Birchmount Road, Scarborough (416 267-8229), on Monday, November 14, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A celebration of Robert's life will take place in the chapel on Tuesday, November 15th at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at Pine Hills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to CNIB (seeing eye dog program) or Movember Canada.

It is with great sorrow that the family of Cynthia Millicent Thorn (nee Morgan) announce her passing on Sunday, November 6, 2011 in Toronto at Sunnybrook Hospital. Cynthia is fondly remembered by her husband Dennis; daughter Andrea Fatona; grandson Otis Fatona-Pinet; brother Holmer Morgan and his wife Yvonne. Also survived by cousin Una Red and Clarence; niece Sandra Crawford and nephews Holmer Jr. and Edgar. She will always be remebered by Ena Morris and family.

Family and friends are invited to visit at McDougall and Brown Funeral Home, 2900 Kingston Road (East of St. Clair) on Friday, November 18 from 2-4 and 6-8p.m.. A celebration of Cynthia's life will take plast on Saturday, November 19 at 11 a.m. in St. Margaret in the Pines Anglican Church, 4130 Lawrence Avenue East, Scarborough.

A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at Sunnybrook Pallative Care Unit for the care and support.
