Slava Tsvetkov

Slava joined the Lions Clubs over 15 years ago when the world was more peaceful, and she was much slimmer. Today the world is a little ruffled around the edges, and Slava is a little ruffled around the edges. One may say that Slava is a heavy abuser of daydreaming, and romancing, and if that is true it may explain why preparing activity reports comes difficult to her.

Slava joined LCI via Scarborough Cedarbrae Golden Mile Lions Club, where she served for 4 years. One of her favorite memories from the SCGMLC days was a group picture taken with ‘the hat that walks’, and the man under it, past LCI President Jim Ross. Yes, Jim Ross is a Texan, and his five, or ten gallon hat stand out, one may say it walks on its own.

She took a sabbatical for a spell, but came back to her senses very quickly. She returned to Lionism at the TCLC, a new club nearer to her place of employment. She was a proud member of the Toronto Central Lions Club for 9 years, where she served as a club President for two years.

One of the most memorable days as a Lion for Slava may be attending the Centennial LDUN in New York, where 800 Lions delegates from all over the world came to the United Nations and beat all previous attendance records. After retiring from 10 years of Credit and Collections Slava joined a club closer to home, and now she is continuing her service at the Scarborough Central Lions Club.

In 2018 Slava completed the Certified Guiding Lions course, and was appointed a CGL for the West Hill - Highland Creek Lions Club. She carried this duty together with CGL Lion Cynthia Chu.

Slava holds the following awards, and recognitions for merits: Lion of the Year 2006-2007; Scarborough Cedarbrae Golden Mile Lions Club. Zone Chair Certificate of Appreciation by LC DG Harold Hobson in 2016. A Certificate of Recognition by Lions DG Dan Sibanda in 2019 for contribution to New Voices. A LCI Certificate of Recognition in Marketing for years 2018-2019 in acknowledgement of New Voices.

Her new challenge is the Hearing Conservation , and Awareness program for District A 711 where her focus will be in expanding the awareness of hearing loss problems, and helping the needy with reusable hearing aids.
